A New Jersey grocery store has introduced shopping carts with smart technology.
ShopRite of Brookdale recently introduced Caper Carts, which allow customers to scan items as they add them into their carts.
The grocery store is located at 1409 Broad St. in Bloomfield.
The new cart system scans groceries, provides shopping recommendations and allows checkout directly from the cart.
Customers can head to the self-checkout area and scan a barcode shown on the cart’s screen to checkout.
Traditional carts are still available for use at the store. The future plans for Caper Carts at ShopRite have yet to be announced, but there are now at least two N.J. locations with these smart shopping carts, which some users are calling the “Cadillac of shopping carts.”
ShopRite first introduced the smart carts in its Spotswood store back in 2022.
The supermarket chain is popular for its offerings of meat, baked goods, seafood, frozen foods, produce, dairy and much more.
There are currently over 270 ShopRite supermarkets throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland.
