Wedding venue’s enormous chandelier undergoes spring cleaning

One of Massachusetts’ best-known wedding and event venues will shut down at the end of next summer and sold to a real estate investment and development company. After decades of hosting community Thanksgiving dinners, weddings, proms, meetings, dinners and more, the Lombardo family shutting down its venue off Interstate 93 in Randolph.The family company, Lombardo’s Hospitality Group, announced Thursday that the 71,500-square-foot event space and home of Vincent’s Nightclub located at 6 Billings Street will be sold to Boston-based Core Investments, Inc.The projected closure date of Lombardo’s Meetings & Occasions and Vincent’s Nightclub is September 2023, the hospitality group said. “The history of this building and what it has meant to so many members of the community of Randolph cannot be overlooked and it’s obviously a significant moment in time for all of us,” Vincent Lombardo, chief executive officer of The Lombardo Companies, said. “This is the right decision for all involved at this time and we’re looking forward to the growth and change ahead with the fourth generation.”One of the most striking features inside of Lombardo’s was the massive chandelier, the largest of its kind in New England. It measures 18-feet wide, weighs over 3,500 pounds, and has more than 10,000 glass crystals and 950 light bulbs.The announcement comes as the Lombardo family’s various businesses across the Boston area are merged into the newly formed Lombardo’s Hospitality Group, which includes Bardo’s Bar Pizza in South Boston. “We feel we’ve made the best business decision to grow the future of the business and have done the due diligence to honor both our customers and our employees,” David Lombardo, director of operations of Lombardo’s Hospitality Group, said. The Lombardo’s Hospitality Group said they’ll continue to focus on catering and events after the Randolph closure, while expanding Bardo’s Bar Pizza.
