No one was hurt Monday morning when an SUV backed into and shattered display windows at the Petco store at the 25th Street Shopping Center in Palmer Township, an official said.
The gray Kia Telluride SUV ended up with glass on the rear of its roof just after 10 a.m., but it caused no structural damage to the building, township Deputy Fire Chief Jim Alercia said. A township codes official was called out and made that determination, Alercia added.
The store should be able to stay open as it makes repairs, Alercia said.
The store was working with its corporate owner as well as shopping center officials on how it would be secured, Alercia said.
The store at 2435 Nazareth Road does grooming and sells pet supplies.
It was open at the time of the incident, which happened in an area where supplies were displayed and not far from the cash registers.
The fire department assisted with cleanup and in the process of making sure the building was safe, Alercia said.
Details about the driver were not immediately available.
A manager who answered the phone at the store referred all questions about the incident to Petco corporate.
