Love it or hate it, there’s a decent chance that Amazon is part of your life in some way. Even those who managed to steer clear of it pre-pandemic may have found themselves in a position where they’re relying on the massive corporation to deliver supplies or food.

As long as you have to use Amazon, you might as well take advantage of all the deals available to you—including their so-called “secret” departments. Here’s what to know about those, and how to access the best prices possible.

Amazon Outlet

Amazon Outlet is the site’s equivalent of the sale rack all the way in the back of the store, or hidden on the ends of the aisles in places like Target. Previously, there was also a department called “Bargain Finds”—which featured products all $15 or less— though it no longer exists. Now, the closest thing is the “Under $10″ section on Amazon Outlet.

Amazon Renewed

The hype surrounding the latest upgraded gadgets and devices may make it seem like they’re worth the heavy price tag, but it’s hard to justify the high costs when you know the item will be “outdated” in a year—or even a span of months. So for those who want a smartphone or an iPad, but don’t care if it’s the latest generation, a pre-owned—or, as Amazon calls them, “renewed”—product might be the way to go.

According to Amazon, “pre-owned products on Amazon Renewed have been inspected and tested by qualified suppliers to work and look like new, and come with the Amazon Renewed Guarantee.” Available products include smartphones, laptops and desktops, tablets, home and kitchen appliances, game consoles, and office products.

Amazon Coupons

This one is exactly what it sounds like: Pretend you’re flipping through the ads that come with the Sunday newspaper looking for/at coupons. That’s what Amazon Coupons is like—except instead of physically clipping coupons, you click on them to apply them to your order. You can search for coupons by brand, though keep an eye out when you’re shopping elsewhere on the site as well, as coupon availability is typically noted on product pages just below the item’s price.
