It didn’t take long for 21-year-old Parsons student Ella Emhoff to hit the runway after signing with IMG models. Being a style savant herself, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler took notice of her flair immediately. The design duo tapped Kamala Harris’s stepdaughter as the muse of their fall 2021 collection, and she’s featured three times in the brand’s new lookbook. Ella joined Jack and Lazaro at NYFW: The Talks at Spring Studios, after quarantining post-inauguration (where she famously made waves for her Miu Miu coat), then traveling to Water Mill, NY, where the Proenza Schouler line and video was photographed.
“[Ella] represents the story we wanted to tell with the collection. It’s the beginning of a whole new chapter in American history, in the kind of clothes we’re wearing and are attracted to. She’s the breath of fresh air,” Lazaro stated during a preview, according to WWD. Ella shared a glimpse of the seven minute fall/winter 2021 film in her Instagram Stories, thanking Proenza for the opportunity.
