Maybe the only thing that excites me more than a spring makeup or nail trend (and best believe I love a good pastel moment) is a spring hairstyle. By the end of winter, I’m beyond ready to shed my layers, beanies, and jacket hoods and try something different with my hair that doesn’t involve untangling it from my scarf, ya feel me? And this year, I’m *especially* excited, because the spring 2022 hair trends are so good. On the Fashion Week runways this season, we saw some old ’90s faves, lots of accessorizing, a bunch of cool updos, and a ton of hairstyles that embraced each model’s own texture. Excited? Same. So keep scrolling for some hair looks you’ll want to wear all spring long, plus the tools and products you’ll need to try them out yourself.

Braided Tendrils for Spring 2022
Good news: The tendrils you’ve been wearing (and loving) aren’t going anywhere this spring. Hairstylist Odile Gilbert gave some of the models at Altuzarra two small braids in the front for a little ’90s throwback.
HOW TO DO IT: THIS TEXTURIZNG SPRAY
Tresemme Dry Texture Finishing Spray
If you have baby fine hair that slips right out of a baby braid, a spritz of this texturizing spray will give your strands the grip they need to stay put. Spray a little bit throughout to give the rest of your hair a bit more body and volume.

A Wavy Ponytail for Spring 2022
For LaQuan Smith, hairstylist Lacy Redway added little touches to make traditional hairstyles feel more current, like this slicked ponytail hairstyle with waves and baby hairs, and the wavy-ended cornrows with swooped edges (def tap through these pics for inspo).
HOW TO DO IT: THIS LIGHTWEIGHT MOUSSE
Design Essentials Natural Almond & Avocado Curl Enhancing Mousse
To pull off the look yourself, you’re gonna need a gel, hairspray, and a good mousse. This curly hair mousse with almond and avocado oils has a lightweight formula that adds bounce (not crunch) to your curls and enhances and defines your natural pattern.

Monochrome Clips for Spring 2022
Your go-to messy bun gets a colorful makeover for spring 2022. Models at Alice & Olivia wore monochromatic snap clips, bobby pins, and barrettes that perfectly matched their outfits and made the messy hairstyles feel more intentional.
HOW TO DO IT: THESE COLORFUL CLIPS
Aostar Snap Hair Clip 100PCS
Paint your hair clips yourself if you want to create your own custom color scheme or get yourself a pack of colorful clips and match them to your looks.

Pearl Hair Accessories for Spring 2022
At Ulla Johnson, we saw lots of gold and pearl hair accessories, whether the models wore braids, like the cornrows shown here, or walked the runway with their hair down and straight.
HOW TO DO IT: THESE PEARL EMBELLISHMENTS
Lelet NY Philippa Pearl Flower Clip Set of 3
With this set of 14k gold clips, you truly don’t need jewelry to wear with it. And thanks to their flower shape, they’re also perfect for spring.

Hair Bows for Spring 2022
What goes better with floral print and pastels than oversized hair bows? The models at Markarian wore all of the above with braids, buns, and finger waves.
HOW TO DO IT: THIS FLORAL BOW
LoveShackFancy Women’s Lorna Barrette
Look, you’re either a bow person or you’re not. And if you are, then you definitely need a barrette bow like this to pop on whenever your look needs a little accessorizing.
11
Crystal Barrettes for Spring 2022
Models at Tom Ford wore low buns with a deep side part balanced by chunky barrettes on the opposite side. Yep, you read that right. Side part. We’re finally back, bb.
HOW TO DO IT: THIS GEM STONE BOBBY PIN
Jennifer Behr Lenora Bobby Pin
All it takes is a few embellished barrettes, like these Swarovski-studded bobby pins, to DIY the runway look.
13
Face-Framing Tendrils for Spring 2022
I told you tendrils are back for spring 2022! Models at Anna Sui wore the early ’00s hairstyle with hats and scarves or alone in all their glory.
HOW TO DO IT: THIS HAIR MIST
R+Co Bleu Essential Hair Tonic
Like a hairspray but better (read: lighter), this hair tonic gives a little hold and a lot of shine. Use it to prep damp hair before you style it for soft texture.
15
Beads and Bouffants for Spring 2022
At Moschino, we saw lots of colorful beaded braids and teased French twists inspired by looks of the ’90s. So much ’90s nostalgia for spring 2022! Gotta love it.
HOW TO DO IT: THIS VOLUMIZING SPRAY
R+Co Balloon Dry Volume Spray
For the voluminous French twists, you’ll def want a can of this volumizing hair product to prep the hair before pinning it up and to build the height of the bouffant on top. This spray adds a ton of texture without weighing down your strands (because that would defeat the purpose, right?).
17
A Half-Up Hairstyle for Spring 2022
I definitely, 100 percent wore my hair like this all of eighth grade, so you know I’m pumped it’s back for spring 2022. A handful of models at Versace wore this half-up, half-down hairstyle that’s slicked back and super-straight.
HOW TO DO IT: THIS FLAT IRON
Ghd Platinum+ Professional Performance Hair Styler
To get your hair to lay perfectly flat, you’ll want to first grab a flat iron and straighten your hair in the direction you want it to go. This straightener regulates its own temperature so it’s never too hot and, unlike the one in eighth grade, it won’t totally fry your hair after a few passes.

Long Braids for Spring 2022
This spring, the longer your low ponytail braid, the better. Exhibit A: The models at Erdem with dramatic braids tied off with bows at the end.
HOW TO DO IT: THIS BLOW DRYER
Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer
With a braid this long, you’re bound to have a few pieces sticking out here and there. To really smooth things out, hairstylist Larry King used this hair dryer and the flyaway attachment to seal those suckers back down.
21
Braided Updos for Spring 2022
Not just any braided updo, the hairstyles Jawara created for the Christian Siriano show were woven with ribbon and bent to create this whimsical shape.
HOW TO DO IT: THIS RIBBON
Creative Ideas PSF1102-175 Solid Satin Ribbon
Easily add a pop of fun, springy color to your braid with a strip of ribbon. Tie it to the base, then incorporate the ribbon into your three-strand braid. To then give your braid structure, like in the example above, use wire that blends and bends into your hair.

Floral Accessories for Spring 2022
Fact: Flowers are the best part about springtime. It only makes sense to add a bloom or two to your bun hairstyle, as seen on the models at Naeem Khan.
HOW TO DO IT: THIS HAIRSPRAY
Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray
To keep the middle hair part sharp, secure the back half of your hair into a ponytail first. Then, spray the front with this strong hairspray and slick back one side of your hair at a time. This spray also protects against humidity—a must when we’re talking about spring.

Braided Ponytails for Spring 2022
HOW TO DO IT: THIS HAIR GEL
Pattern Strong Hold Gel
Before you get to braiding the ponytail, you gotta pull it all back first. And to do so without any bumps or stray hairs, you’ll want a hair gel to keep everything soft but sleek, like this one designed for slicked looks.
27
Sleek Buns for Spring 2022
I could only dream of pulling off a bun this impeccable, but you bet I’ll spend all spring 2022 trying to learn how! Hairstylist Lucas Wilson gave some of the models sophisticated, sculptural updos like this, while others wore their hair slicked back or down in loose waves.
HOW TO DO IT: THIS HAIRBRUSH
Briogeo Vegan Boar Bristle Hair Brush
To really get those hairs smooth, flat, and pulled tight, you need the tension of a boar bristle brush. This vegan option with synthetic bristles gives you all the control and polished results without the big price tag.

Sparkly Strands for Spring 2022
If there’s anything you take away from this article, let it be this: glitter. The models at Blumarine were dripping in iridescent sparkles on their bodies and in their hair, and come spring 2022, you will be too.
HOW TO DO IT: THIS GLITTER
Glow Up Academy Glitter in As If
Play up your natural texture and sprinkle a little—nay, a lot—of glitter in your strands. Use a loose glitter eyeshadow is you have it or order one of these pots of ice pink holographic glitter.
