As Vogue editors, we often wax poetic on the latest runway must-haves and home decor treasures, but not every item we gush about on this website ultimately ends up in our closets and homes. Our discoveries are nice to behold—they’re lovely to look at and inspire fun conversation—however, of all the tempting things to buy, what did we actually end up purchasing? Each month we’ll highlight those special finds our editors welcomed into their lives—all the things that made us buyers rejoice.

Haven’t you heard the Mary Jane and ballet flat are coming back this fall? I got a pair of Everlane Mary Janes, and they have been my go-to shoe this month. They’re super comfortable and a flat shoe which I love, and they’ll come in handy for NYFW when we’re going from show to office to show.

Naturally, September is an exciting time because it not only marks the transitional season towards fall, but it’s New York Fashion Week and the U.S. Open—two of my favorite events in one month. I love a classic tennis sweater that I can wrap around my shoulders with a chic maxi dress during the day, but also slip on when it’s a bit chilly at night in between shows. I recently picked up this Ralph Lauren sweatshirt on Opening Night at the U.S. Open and I found it goes swimmingly with a midi skirt for a match at Arthur Ashe or front row during fashion week.

With unpredictable weather on the horizon, upgrading my accessories has been top of mind for me. I’m easing into the season with transitional slingback mules by Prada right now. But once the temperatures start to really drop, I’ll be stomping around NYC in these gorgeous Gia Borghini boots.

As summer winds down, my life and my wardrobe are certainly in transition. Because I haven’t had much time to pare down my endless fall shopping carts, I looked to rental subscription services for statement pieces that made picking an outfit that much more fun without the commitment of course! While I turned to Nuuly to spice up my daily wardrobe (think: pieces for items to sport to the office or to Sunday brunch), I shopped Rent The Runway for events and weekend getaways. Honestly, I’m still dreaming about these vibrant picks from Tommy Hilfiger and Esteban Cortazar Collective that I’ve seriously considered buying forever.

Though a boot may not be the most innovative fall find, it is, however, a must-have for the upcoming season. Merging two styles into one, this Chelsea boot and loafer hybrid is the only thing getting me ready to leave the warmer days behind. Pair them with your go-to flowy dress, lightweight trouser, or even your shorts of choice for the summer months, and your transitional wardrobe is complete!

When it comes to bags, I like to keep it simple. At least that was the case until I came across 16Arlington’s crystal-dusted Kikka bag. Admittedly, simple it is not, but my inner magpie couldn’t resist its green-glistening, ultra-camp sheen. I’ve taken it on holiday, to a wedding, on nights out and to the office. Yes, I’ve even taken it on a hike in the Hollywood Hills (don’t judge). The verdict? This bag won’t leave you fishing for compliments.

I’ve never been much of a summer person—I’ve been eager to start shopping for fall as soon as August 1 rolled around. In a gorgeous hue that sits between burnt orange and golden brown, I fell hard for this PSWL cozy knit dress. I already love the easygoing appeal of a tie-dye print, so seeing Proenza Schouler’s signature dying technique here as well made it all the easier to hit ‘Add to Cart’!

Pre-NYFW, I’ve been obsessing over acquiring two things: A new bag, and new jeans. I’ve long dreamed of owning a classic Chanel double flap—I think they look great on guys, especially with a nonchalant hoodie. For denim, I’ve been wanting to wear more baggy silhouettes; I love these Balenciagas.

A few weeks ago, I found an amazing pair of Tory Burch riding boots (super on sale), and a whole season’s worth of sartorial choices danced in my mind. Mini floral dresses, schoolgirl skirts, and sharp trousers all took on a new life when paired with these gorgeous boots. I knew I had to have them, but only after agreeing to split custody with my younger sister, who also fell in love with them. While the exact pair isn’t available anymore, these By Far boots are sure to inspire the same Fall fantasies.

I rarely invest in new clothing in August due to the inevitable drop in temperature that hits the UK on September 1. Instead, I have been trying to make smart investments in the summer sales, and JW Anderson’s logo bag was right at the top of my list. With throwback undertones, compact size and, of course, the brand’s signature ‘bumper’ edge, it’s the perfect addition to any minimalist ensemble.

Cinderella has a glass slipper moment…but for me, I have Velcro sneakers. It’s my deranged, sick obsession and I specifically love the sporty Gattaca designer footwear that have that yum-yum crunchhhhh sound when you put them on. I’m going to get a pair similar to these sexed-up orthopedic-friendly Tom Ford-era Guccis on The RealReal to fulfill my freaky Velcro dreams.
Reader’s Choice
Although summer is winding down, several Vogue readers hoped at the chance to preorder Gigi Hadid’s comfy M.Gemi sandals, which are made by hand in small batches.
