$12K in silver stolen from Titusville jewelry store

Two men are wanted for smashing the glass on the front of a local jewelry store, then making off with thousands of dollars worth of silver.The thieves targeted Stephen’s Jewelers off I-95 in the Garden Street Plaza Wednesday morning.To help track down the two suspects, the Titusville Police Department released footage showing the moment the burglary took place.The two were dressed in black and the license plate on their white BMW X3, covered.The pair backed up their SUV and used a window punch on the front door of the store before walking in. The pair left with nearly $12,000 worth of silver. The whole crime only took around two minutes.To a local business of 20 years, the burglary cuts deep. “You get kind of comfortable in a hometown. You don’t think anything will happen. We are going to get some security roll-downs on our glass and that will hopefully help a lot with security,” Stephen Lumpkin of Stephen’s Jewelers said.The Titusville Police say as part of its holiday anti-theft program, they will take a more public posture to deter thefts like the one at Stephen’s Jewelers.
